Pre-Engineering

A group of diverse students collaborating around a laptop at a table. Are you interested in studying Engineering at Ontario Tech, but don't have the prerequisite courses to meet the regular admission requirements? You may be eligible for the Pre-Engineering program.

This program offers a structured pathway with targeted courses to help you meet the admission requirements. Upon successful completion of the program, you'll be able to transfer into an Engineering program of your choice, based on your academic performance in the Pre-Engineering program.

Our program is specifically designed to support you if you aspire to enter an Engineering program but did not have the opportunity to take all the prerequisites or did not achieve sufficient grades in them, such as the necessary science and mathematics courses in high school. The Pre-Engineering program applies to all our engineering programs and corresponding management programs.

Admissions

The Pre-Engineering program students would have taken MHF4U: Advanced Functions in high school and have not taken or did not achieve sufficient grades in the following Grade 12 courses:

  • MCV4U: Calculus and Vectors
  • SCH4U: Chemistry
  • SPH4U: Physics

Pre-Engineering Program Map

As part of the Pre-Engineering program, students must complete the following courses:

  • CHEM 0900U: Preparatory Chemistry for Engineers
  • MATH 0900U: Preparatory Math for Engineers
  • PHY 0900U: Preparatory Physics for Engineers
To continue in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program, students must complete the Pre-Engineering courses (e.g., CHEM 0900U, MATH 0900U, and PHY 0900U) that they were directed to take with a minimum B- grade in each of these courses.
