Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Jeffrey S. Boyce Engineering Innovation and Design Studio

The Engineering Innovation and Design Studio supports student projects and is accessible to students throughout the year. Technical staff with a vast disciplinary focus is available to support multidisciplinary projects and safe operations. To help kick start and realize their dream design projects, the students can tap into the wealth of knowledge and experience of the staff who advise and mentor students. The studio’s current hardware and software capabilities include but not limited to: FDM and resin-based 3D printing, laser cutting system, laboratory-grade water-jet cutting system, 4 axis CNC mill, State-of-the-art 3D scanner with reverse engineering software package and Electronics workbenches with oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies as well as other instruments and tools. These resources are extensively used for student projects where students have the opportunity to apply engineering principles to develop working prototypes.

Workshops

The Engineering Innovation and Design Studio is offering a series of workshops as extra-curricular activities to provide students with the opportunity to participate in experiential learning - learning. Workshops are FREE for Ontario Tech Engineering Students.
