Hayyan Shahid

Alumnus, Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2022)

Hayyan is a driven industry professional in the electrical field. Hayyan completed his Bachelor's of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences in 2019. After this, he went straight to industry where he held roles as an Application Engineer (Instrumentation) at Emerson Automation Solutions and then as a Project Coordinator at Averos. Hayyan decided to further his education with the goal to go back into industry afterwards, leading him to choose a Master's of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering here at Ontario Tech University in September 2021. The Ontario Tech MEng program hold four core courses before specialization, including Project Management for Engineers and Engineering Communication and Ethics. Hayyan was able to apply these skills immediately after starting his higher education while also developing industry experience working as a Project Coordinator at Electrify Inc. alongside his Master's from 2021-2022.

After graduation, Hayyan continues to excel in industry. Hayyan shared, "The Master of Engineering program at Ontario Tech provided me with a strong foundation in advanced electrical systems and real-world problem-solving. The practical approach and industry-focused curriculum helped me transition seamlessly into the professional world, where I continue to apply the skills and knowledge I gained."

Since 2022, Hayyan has held multiple high level roles, including as an Electrical Design Engineer at SIDAC Automated Systems, and now as a Custom Order Product Specialist at Eaton. His daily work life now involves both techno-commercial sales, communicating technical content to non-technical individuals, to using his engineering design skills creating engineering drawings for Eaton products. Hayyan is an excellent example of refining your post-secondary education to succeed in industry.
