Did you always know you wanted to do co-op/Internship?
Not always. I started to think about that at the beginning of the second year.
Did you have any concerns or hesitations before you started?
Not really.
What were your expectations?
To learn as much as possible during my internship.
How did your experience compare with your expectations?
The experience is definitely bigger and better than my expectations.
How would you say you enjoyed your experience?
I feel really lucky that I can get the opportunity of doing my internship at Bluewrist Inc. I get to know lots of skills and knowledge outside the school and I am also learning lots of things through my internship.
In a few sentences, explain your position. Please provide details about your daily tasks, projects, and responsibilities.
Some of my daily tasks include mechanical design, machine building, robot simulation, robot programming, and welding inspection.
What was your work atmosphere like? (flexibility, formality, team-centric, supportive)
My work atmosphere is one reason I enjoy doing my internship. Everyone is nice to each other. As an internship student, I got lots of help and learnt a lot from my colleagues. We have some small activities every month for people to stay together and become more socialized.
Did you feel that any training and/or support available to you was helpful or beneficial to you?
The training provided by the company at Fanuc is very beneficial to me. The Fanuc certification will be really useful in my future career.
What previous skills and/or competencies (professional or volunteer related) helped you in your role?
Mechanical design skills and learning skills I learned from school.
What previous skills and/or competencies did you develop during your placement? Are there any strengths or weaknesses that also fall into these skills/competency development?
Problem-solving skills, mechanical design and machine building skills, robotic programming skills, communication skills.
What advice would you offer to students thinking about pursuing a co-op or Internship?
Think about how long you want the co-op/internship to be. What is the role you want to be during the internship? What Company do you want to join?
