Engineering Outreach at Ontario Tech University is excited to be offering a hands-on opportunity for youth in grades 4 through 8. The planting a better future initiative aims to educate the younger generation on the benefits of vegetable gardening and sustainability. We will discuss the basic science behind plants, their physical and mental benefits to human beings, and how gardening is a sustainable hobby that is beneficial to the planet.

Planting a Better Future: Virtual Grades 4-6

Experience the thrill of learning with Engineering Outreach at Ontario Tech University as we proudly present our online classroom experience, tailored for the bright minds of grades 4-6.

The Planting a Better Future initiative is designed to ignite a passion for sustainability and gardening through hands-on experiences. In this one-hour, virtual session dedicated to your class, students will not only engage in the practical application of planting seeds but also deepen their comprehension of plant care, sustainable practices and global welfare. We will discuss the basic science behind plants, and the physical and mental health benefits gained through gardening. Planting a Better Future: The Micro:bit Edition - Grades 7-8

Experience the thrill of learning with Engineering Outreach at Ontario Tech University as we proudly present our classroom experience, tailored for the bright minds of grades 7-8.

The Planting a Better Future initiative is designed to ignite a passion for sustainability and technology through hands-on experiences. In this 90 minute session, your class will delve into the practical application of planting seeds but also deepen their comprehension of plant care, sustainable practices and global welfare. But that’s not all! We will be introducing the Micro:bit, and Climate Action Kit for students to build their own automated watering system! Students will harness the power of technology to nurture their plants efficiently.
