Ways You Can Work with Us

High School Opportunities
- Paid Student High School Program Instructor Positions: Part-time (up to 10-12 hours per week) during the school year (September to June) and primarily full-time (up to 35 hours per week) in the summer (July to August).
- Unpaid Co-op Placements: Available for high school students completing a co-op term. Limited spots per term. Sign up for our mailing list to be the first to hear about volunteer opportunities and our new and improved volunteer program.

University Student Opportunities
- Program Instructors (Current or recently graduated undergraduate students who have not previously worked with us)
- Part-time (up to 10-12 hours per week) during September to April (some full-time opportunities available)
- Full-time (up to 35 hours per week) in May to August
- Senior Program Instructors (Undergraduate students/recent graduates who have previously worked with us)
- Part-time (up to 10-12 hours per week) during September to April (some full-time opportunities available)
- Full-time (up to 35 hours per week) in May to August
- Co-op Program Instructor (Ontario Tech University students completing their co-op placement with us)
- Must be available for an 8-month or 12-month co-op term.
- Co-op positions are full-time (35 hours per week).
- Must meet co-op eligibility requirements as determined by the Ontario Tech Co-op Office.
- Program Instructors (Current or recently graduated undergraduate students who have not previously worked with us)
Hiring Timelines
- Summer Hiring: Applications are open now until March 21, 2025. Check out the job descriptions above and apply here.
- Fall/Winter Hiring: Applications typically open in July, interviews in August, and offers in August and positions beginning in September (some positions may remain open longer).
- We may post other positions to fill vacancies throughout the year.

Shifts depend on the program and may include morning, evening and weekend hours.

General Program Instructor Job Description
Ontario Tech University Engineering Outreach Program Instructors support STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programming for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. We provide free and low-cost STEM workshops, camps, and events across Durham, York, Northumberland, and Toronto, including in-school and community programs, as well as on-campus programming.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, hands-on STEM workshops and camps in person to youth K-12.
- Prepare lesson plans, activities, and educational content for outreach programs.
- Develop innovative STEM-based curriculum through testing and experimentation.
- Support social media engagement through content creation on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
- Assist with surveys, program analysis, and reports to enhance future programming.
- Communicate consistently and effectively with Engineering Outreach Coordinators.
- Represent Ontario Tech University Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science positively.
- Travel within the Durham Region for in-person workshops and community events.
