InspirEng Conference
Presented by The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Ontario Tech University and Hydro One, the InspireEng All-girl Engineering Conference is a 1-day event open to girls in grades 9 & 10, intended to inspire the next generation of girls interested in STEM to become future engineers. Join us for a fun day and connect with like-minded peers during hands-on activities related to science, technology, engineering, math, and physics.
This year's conference will be held in person! InspirEng will take place on Saturday, February 25th, 2023, from about 10 am to 3 pm with a lunch break incorporated. Students will have the opportunity to meet and interact with current female-identifying engineers at Ontario Tech as well as very special guests! Join us to learn about current renewable energy and electricity generation. We will go over renewable energy sources and some basic design concepts before students will design something of their own!
Attendees will learn about what high school course pathways they need in order to apply for STEM programs and specifically engineering programs, as well as gain insight into what it's like being a female in STEM. Our programming will explain the importance of physics and the different streams of engineering, and some of the career paths that are possible in each one. You will also be inspired by current female engineering professionals as they talk about their careers, how they got there, and what it's like in the engineering workforce.
Engineering is a very diverse field with endless opportunities, and we hope this conference will help inspire you to discover more about engineering!
