Elementary Summer Camps

  • (CLOSED) Virtual - Learning to Code: Beginner Python - July 2-5

    Students will be introduced to the basics of Python programming. From operators to conditional statements to loops, students will learn to code through a series of exciting coding challenges that put their knowledge to the test. This introductory camp will prepare students for any future coding classes or coding languages they want to learn. No coding experience required!

    Put on your hardhats and prepare to engage in the exciting mindset of an engineer! Each day, students will immerse themselves in a new engineering field, learning through projects that center on real-world applications of STEM. Through hands-on experiments and exciting design challenges, campers will hone their creativity and problem solving, developing the skills needed to think and build like true engineers.

    Students will explore what it means to think like an engineer. Each day will focus on a specific engineering field with projects focused on building a better society. Through hands-on experiments and design challenges, campers will have the opportunity to apply creative problem-solving to recognize and address problems in our society.

  • (CLOSED) In-Person - Girls Week: Engineering Our Society - July 29-August 2

    This year’s Girls Week programs will focus on a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) cumulative project throughout the week. With an emphasis on the Engineering Design Process, students will learn a new topic every day of the week and how it relates to their project and the world around them. Participants will learn from enthusiastic women engineering students and boost their problem-solving skills through fun, hands-on, discovery-based activities. At the end of the week, students will have the chance to apply all the knowledge they learned and put their projects to the test in a head-to-head competition with their peers!

  • (CLOSED) Virtual - Learning to Code: Intermediate Python - August 6-9

    Students who have taken a previous introductory Python course will enjoy this project based camp. This camp was developed to allow students to expand on their base knowledge in Python programming. As students dive deeper into various Python types, functions, and libraries, they will be tasked with fun design projects that require them to express their creativity through coding in order to form a solution. Throughout the camp, students will gain a deeper perspective on the impact of computer scientists and software engineers to society.

Bring your imagination and creativity and we’ll give you the knowledge and technology to make the ultimate robot. Students will design, build and test their robots skills to overcome a series of escalating challenges. Can your robot navigate a maze, avoid obstacles, and successfully battle? Using LEGO Mindstorms, students will work in groups to design the best robot to win. In this design challenge, students will work through the entire engineering design process, from ideas to programming to the final design. On the last day, there will be a competition to see who comes out on top. Good luck and may the best robot win!

  • (CLOSED) In-Person - Engineering Our World...Through Sport! -August 19-23

    This camp is for the true sports loving engineer! Each day will be split between hands-on STEM (science, tech, engineering and math) activities, and getting out and active, through SPORT!
    Campers will participate in a variety of organized team and individual active games. Campers will receive instruction of fundamental skills in a variety of sports at the Campus Fieldhouse and Vaso's Field, which may include: Baseball, Soccer, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Flag Football, Dodgeball, Badminton and lots of other fun activities. Additionally, campers will learn about different fields of engineering, with camp projects focused on building a better society!
    The sports activity and STEM themes will change daily. All necessary sports equipment will be provided.

High School Summer Camps

  • (CLOSED) In-Person - VEX Robotics-BattleBots - July2-5

    Why learn robotics on our own when we can develop our skills together and then test them against other teams? Participants will utilize the Engineering Design Process and computational problem-solving to build and program robots using VEX EDR Robotics. Participants will work in teams to design their robot, which will include motors, sensors, and hardware components that are controlled with code, without the need for external influence. At the end of the week, all the robots will battle until there is one robot standing!

    Let’s explore the mechanics, dynamics, and material sciences behind modern inventions using 3D design and printing and learn how to transform a concept into a product through the Engineering Design Process. Participants will have opportunities to design, build and test solutions to a range of problems they may face in the real world and give them the skills to use 3D design as an approach to solving these problems!

  • (CLOSED) Virtual - The Magic of Mathematics - July 15-19

    Math is not just something we do in class; it is one of the methods we can use to solve problems and make our lives easier. Participants will learn the foundational concepts of calculus and the value of this super-powerful tool for tackling tough challenges. Our fun, hands-on activities will help participants develop an understanding of how calculus and other mathematical concepts can solve real problems they face every day and relate to real world engineering and society.

At the end of the week, all the robots will be tasked to complete challenges - best performance wins!

    Arduino is a powerful yet accessible design tool which combines principles of programming and electronics, and can be used as the brains behind a multitude of modern engineering projects. In this camp, participants will be introduced to the Arduino as a tool, and tasked to use it to complete design challenges - learning the necessary skills along the way! We’ll make use of other common prototyping tools, including sensors, breadboards and more!

  • (CLOSED) Virtual - Teaching Computers to Think and Learn - August 12-16

    Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the fastest growing areas of software engineering, appearing in almost every industry. Participants will learn about the newest developments within AI and how these systems use different techniques to help humans efficiently solve problems. Participants will be tasked with constructing a system of their own that they will program and train. Participants will explore the societal implications of AI, such as the ethical considerations of using biased data.
