At the SMFS lab, we advance smart materials and structures to create user-friendly, sustainable, and intelligent technologies for energy conversion, advanced thermal management, and wearable solutions. Our research focuses on four primary areas:

Hybridized energy harvesting systems for efficient mechanical energy capture.

Polymeric aerogels for advanced thermal management in extreme conditions.

Architected metamaterials with unique mechanical properties and tunable behavior.

Conductive flexible substrates for user-friendly biomedical and rehabilitation applications.
