Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Virtual STEM and Coding Clubs

Elementary Stem club

REGISTRATION CLOSED, CLICK HERE AND BE FIRST TO HEAR OF OUR NEW PROGRAMS

Engineering Outreach is proud to be offering c_wonder: STEM and Coding Clubs for youth in Grades 1- 8 who have a desire to explore science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in challenging and creative ways. Our programs have been designed to introduce youth to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts including engineering design, scientific inquiry and coding. The curriculum for these programs is aligned to the Ontario Curriculum in the areas of science, technology and mathematics.

Each STEM Club will explore a central field and how engineering can be applied to solve its diverse and real-world issues. Students will be guided through hands-on activities and STEM concepts will build upon each session while being interconnected throughout.

Each Coding Club aims to introduce participants to the fundamentals of coding and how it drives our technologically advanced society. Through the use of different and exciting educational technologies, students will be guided through a series of coding design challenges that reinforces their understanding of coding. No previous coding experience is required!

Winter Wonderland: Design for the Festive Season

'Tis the season to explore engineering with a fun holiday twist! In this STEM Club, students will step into the snow boots of an engineer as they perform hands-on experiments and apply the Engineering Design Process to solve challenges during the winter season. Each session will explore a different field of engineering and enable students to understand what it means to be a well-rounded engineer. Grab your coziest blanket, a cup of hot cocoa, and light up your winter season with Engineering Outreach!

All About Engineering: An Engineering World Tour

Engineering is a broad and interesting potential career path. Numerous different types of engineers work in numerous different roles around the world, showcasing a massive range of skills used to make the world a better place. Since there are so many different types of engineering, it can be challenging to decide which kind may suit you best. This club will focus on a different type of engineering each week - letting YOU test the waters and see how you could possibly enjoy going down each of these possible paths!

    3D Rocket Design

Are you looking to learn more about how engineers and other professional designers create their plans? Look no further! We will be investigating creating a 3D Design of a rocket - and we’ll look at the steps that an engineer in the space industry might go about doing this! We’ll be using Tinkercad as our platform to do our design. We will also be 3D printing our designs, so we can investigate how we take these designs out of the program and into the real world - and the advantages and challenges that come with it!
