Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

c_wonder: Mobile Design Lab

The c_wonder: Mobile Design Lab delivers hands-on learning activities to schools and brings design thinking to life in your classroom! Designed for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, the workshops are a fun, engaging way to deepen your students' understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with links to the Ontario curriculum.

c_wonder: Mobile Design Lab workshops are offered throughout the school year and our instructors come to you!  

Workshop Cost

For the 2021/2022 school year, the c_wonder: Mobile Design Lab will be running virtual programming at no cost to schools following proper class registration!

Booking Guidelines
  • Workshops can be booked up to 21 days in advance and cannot be scheduled 3 days before the event date and time
  • All bookings must be made through our booking link below via calendly
  • Educators are able to book a session with more than one classroom participating provided that the total group size is 30 students
  • To book multiple workshops, please complete a new booking form for each.
School and Classroom Structure
  • The teacher must always remain in the virtual or physical classroom and will be required to complete a short evaluation at the end of the workshop.
  • The maximum group size is 30 students per virtual workshop.
  • Our workshops are currently only available in English.
  • Workshops can be hosted via Google Meets or Zoom. 

 Requirements: 

  • For classes to be taught in-person, there must be AV equipment (projector, speakers, computer with internet access) to facilitate the virtual session.
  • Students taking part in the sessions will each need a computer to join the sessions. Tablets (e.g. iPad), other mobile devices, and gaming consoles are not sufficient.
  • Ensure students will have internet access with a minimum download speed of 5Mbps and an audio device. (e.g. speakers, headphones/earbuds, headset).
  • Certain workshops will require students and educators to create a free login account to an application. Further information will be provided upon booking.

No Show / Late Cancellation Policy

  • By registering for the workshop, educators are committing themselves to have the c_wonder: Mobile Design lab deliver a workshop in their class
  • Educators will receive an email reminder 72 hours prior to the workshop. We respectfully request that you confirm your booked workshop. You must reply to this email to confirm your session or if you would like to cancel or reschedule. If you have not confirmed your booked workshop 24 hours prior to the event date and time, we reserve the right to reschedule you.
  • Please keep in mind that we maintain a very full schedule. If you are running behind, please let us know as soon in advance so we can manage accordingly.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our program delivery has been adjusted to work in a virtual classroom. We are offering virtual sessions in many different STEM areas that have links to the Ontario curriculum and can work in any class environment.
